My friend, Christine, and I are off to another quilting retreat this weekend! The weather looks good and won't interfere with our plans. I have packed several projects to take with me including the Lupin Quilt (all of the blocks are made and the sashing and borders are cut out and ready to go):
And just like that, Love Birds is done! I took a picture of me making the last stitch in the Bride bird's hat.
The fabric is white but the lighting in my sewing room tonight was not the best for taking a picture of the entire wreath with the Love Birds in the middle. This project was stitched on 14 count white Aida cloth and took 6 months to complete. I will be washing it and then taking it to the framers sometime in the next couple of weeks. I am going to take pictures of the framing options ...

I had already started making blue blocks for my Colour Block Challenge quilt for April so these two challenges will be met together. I ended up making 12 medium/dark blue blocks and then found I had a stack of light blue squares as well. I made 4 light blue blocks and put them all up on the design wall to consider my next steps. I looked at my stash and found some red solid fabric which I will use for ... read more

read moreI have never used more than one or two colours of thread to quilt one of my projects before this week. Last year, the Oxford Quilt Guild issues a challenge to make a quilt using blocks with 15 2.5" squares and 5 flying geese. I proceeded to make 16 blocks, each a different colour, without repeating any of the fabrics in the blocks. Each block contains 25 unique fabrics. The blocks have been sitting in a bin in my sewing room for a couple of months while I thought about how I might set them to make my quilt ... read more
I have had a productive week in the sewing room! I think those scrappy colour blocks that I was making last week got me going again and this week I was on a roll. First, I quilted and bound my January Colour Blocks quilt. I considered a cross hatch but ended up with diagonal lines of quilting using light gray thread.
Green solid fabric was used for the binding.
I will add a label shortly.
I made a pink block for my Rainbow Scrap Quilt for this year.
I noticed after it was on the design wall that I made ...

I have been working on these modified Geese Migration blocks for the last couple of months with the aim of making 16 different coloured blocks from my scrap bins. Each block has 25 different fabrics in it so there are 400 different fabrics in this quilt! There was no noticeable difference in the volume of scraps in any of my scrap bins after making these blocks, so I will have to come up with another scrappy quilt to use up some of these scraps. Each block is 10.5" square. I am not sure how I am going to set ... read more
